Alan Chambers MBE

Alan Chambers is a polar adventurer who received the MBE for ‘exceptional leadership in the face of extreme adversity’ when he led the first successful unsupported British expedition to the geographic North Pole, walking 672 nautical miles in temperatures as low as -65 degrees C dragging a sledge the weight of a baby elephant. Alan has since led top business leaders & chief executives to the North Pole in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 in order to help them explore and reflect on their own leadership capabilities. In 2009 he leads a team of senior executives and high achievers to the South Pole. Alan has inspired thousands of business leaders with his story of the major North Pole expedition. A former Royal Marine Commando, Alan was a member of the first winter expedition to traverse Iceland by ski in 1995, he has sledged across Greenland, Canada North West Territories, Norway and Iceland. In 2008 he crossed Greenland as part of the Feet of Green initiative to inspire children with a spirit of adventure and care for the environment. He is co-author with Dr Richard Hale of best selling business devleopment book ‘Keep Walking: Leadership Learning in Action’.

Dr Richard Hale

Richard Hale’s early career was heading Training and Development functions with GEC Marconi and British Sky Broadcasting. Richard has consulting experience with many international organisations including Coca-Cola, Motorola, Esselte, Allied Domecq and Diageo. He has led the leadership development programmes with HBOS Financial Services, LLoyds TSB Asset Finance Division, Westbury Homes and Zurich Insurance. His research focused on the dynamics of mentoring. His publications include eight books covering subjects such as perfomance management, influencing and problem solving. Richard is the co-author with Alan Chambers of Keep Walking: Leadership Learning in Action which links Alan’s North Pole expedition experience with leadership lessons for business. In 2008 Richard provided the base camp support and education role for the Feet of Green expedition, the crossing of Greenland by Alan Chambers and Peter Herbert.

Phil Davies

A 14 year rugby playing career, captaining Wales, gaining 46 caps, is the second most capped Welsh forward of all time. 350 games for Llanelli Scarlets, playing in 7 cup finals, 4 as captain. Captaincy of the Barbarians in 1990 and selected as a British Lion. As Director of Rugby at Leeds 1996-2006 developed players to national representative standards, planned and implemented apprenticeship scheme within the Tykes Academy of Rugby, No 1 rated RFU Academy structure. Promotion 3rd division 1997/1998, National 1 champions 1999/2000, achieved Premiership status 2001, Heineken Cup 2004 & 2006 qualification, Powergen Cup winners 2005, club’s first major trophy. 5 years English premiership coaching experience. As Llanelli Scarlets - Director of Rugby 2006-2008, responsible for orchestrating a first Eurpoean semi final for the region for 8 years. Currently Welsh national under 20’s coach. Currently working with Richard Hale on a new book focused on team development and coaching.
